I took it out of the package and my cat immediately laid down. We've had record temp heat here and the cats seem to prefer the cooling mat to laying on our laminate floor. When I step on the mat, it does seem distinctly cooler than the floor. There's one cat of mine who prefers the mat more than other two, but I've seen all three of my cats sprawled out on it, and even a couple of territorial looks when someone is using it when another cat wants it. If I had a larger apartment, I'd be ordering more.
I like that it is cooling for the dog. Dog settles on it after coming in from the sun. The dimensions did not quite fit the crate but I was able to fold it and make it work.
